I did really well this month! I had originally put 15 books on my May TBR and I read 12 books total. A few weren't on my original TBR and some I've had to put off until June because I couldn't get them this month, but I still think I did awesome with reading this month!
What I Read In April (Reviews Linked):
- After The End (After The End #1) by Amy Plum (4/5 Stars)
- Until The Beginning (After The End #2) by Amy Plum (4/5 Stars)
- Fracture Me (Shatter Me #2.5) by Tahereh Mafi (3/5 Stars)
- Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3) by Tahereh Mafi (5/5 Stars)
- Restore Me (Shatter Me #4) by Tahereh Mafi (4/5 Stars)
- Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard (3/5 Stars)
- Caraval (Caraval #1) by Stephanie Garber (2.5/5 Stars)
- Legendary (Caraval #2) by Stephanie Garber (3.5/5 Stars)
- The Art of French Kissing by Brianna R. Shrum (4/5 Stars)
- Nyxia (The Nyxia Triad #1) by Scott Reintgen (4.5/5 Stars)
- Nyxia Unleashed (The Nyxia Triad #2) by Scott Reintgen (5/5 Stars)
- An Ember In The Ashes (An Ember In The Ashes #1) by Sabaa Tahir (5/5 Stars)
So I got a lot read! The only review not linked is Nyxia Unleashed. I have that scheduled to go up at the beginning of July (as Nyxia Unleashed comes out on July 17). But I'm incredibly happy with my reading this month! I got 3 of my NetGalley books read! Nyxia Unleashed, The Art of French Kissing and Legendary were all advanced copies from NetGalley. And I've got my ratio at almost 50% now! I'm doing good work! It started at 30% in January. I also got a number of backlisted books off my TBR this month! At least 4 that had been sitting on my shelf for over 2 years!
Happenings This Month On My Blog:
- I announced my June Read-Along books! We will be reading The Young Elites Trilogy by Marie Lu! If you have any of these books on your TBR, come join me! Whether you need to read the whole trilogy or just the last book, come read with me! :)
- In relation to Read-Alongs, I posted a discussion talking about Read-Alongs and Re-Reads! Come chat with me about them!
- I also participated in Bout of Books from May 14-20th. I got 4 1/2 books read! Check out my Updates and Wrap-Up for it!
Post I Enjoyed Around The Blogosphere In May:
- AJ @ Read All The Things! talked about the Accuracy of Amazon Recommendations. - I thought this was a great read since me and James were looking at our kindle book recommendations and while mine were generally accurate, his were 100% dead wrong. Lol.
- Dani @ Perspective of a Writer talked about the Cold, Hard Facts About Commenting Back - I loved this because I think we all can relate to the stresses of commenting back!
- Evelina @ Avalinah's Books shared her incredibly awesome and useful TBR Spreadsheet and talked a bit about it!
- Chelcie @ Cornerfolds talks about ARCs and The Pressure They Come With - I thought this was another great post because I think a lot of us can relate to this as well.
- The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu
- The Rose Society (The Young Elites #2) by Mari Lu
- The Midnight Star (The Young Elites #3) by Marie Lu
- Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
As I mentioned above, I'm hosting a Read-Along of The Young Elites series in June! If you'd like to read these books with me come sign-up! :)
- A Torch Against The Night (An Ember In The Ashes #2) by Sabaa Tahir
- A Reaper At The Gates (An Ember In The Ashes #3) by Sabaa Tahir
- King's Cage (Red Queen #3) by Victoria Aveyard
- War Storm (Red Queen #4) by Victoria Aveyard
I only got to Ember in May, so I'll be reading Torch in June. I also didn't have a chance to get a copy of King's Cage and War Storm in May so hopefully I will in June.
- Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
- The Assassin's Blade (Throne of Glass #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J. Maas
- Olympian Challenger by Astrid Arditi
I'm also going to be starting a Read-Along hosted by Jessica @ Reading With Jessica for the entire Throne of Glass series. It spans from the end of June up until Kingdom of Ash releases. Since I haven't had a chance to read the series yet I thought it was a good opportunity! Check it out if you haven't read it either!
- Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices #1) by Cassandra Clare
- City of Bone (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare
So I need to reread all my Shadowhunter books. I still need to read book 3 in The Infernal Devices and books 5 & 6 in The Mortal Instruments. So in order to refresh myself on them I'm going to reread them both from the beginning. I'll only be picking one thus far. I'm not sure which yet.
Somehow I suspect you are a fantasy fan! I keep thinking I've read Ember in the Ashes, but I haven't; I have it confused with another book. I almost picked up Caravel at the library last week; it sounds like you didn't love it, so I'm kind of glad I didn't. I hope you get as much great reading done in June!
ReplyDeleteI am! Fantasy, Dystopia and Sci-Fi are my favorite types of books! I've been on a big fantasy kick lately though. Lol. Aww. Well I definitely think you should pick up Ember! It's really good! I was worried since there's so much hype for the series but it really did pay off. The hype is worth it. Yeah. Caraval, not so much. My issue was the main character. Some people love her, but I hated her. I didn't connect with her at all. Its one of those that you have to read for yourself to see how you feel. I read its sequel and because it had a different main character I actually liked it better. Thanks! I hope so to! :) Thanks for stopping by! :D
DeleteI am so curious about the Nyxia books. I've only heard great things about them.
ReplyDeleteOMG! You should definitely read them! They are seriously some of my favorite reads this year! Like they are definitely new books for my favorites shelves! :D Lol. For real though. The writing and the world building and the twists in it definitely keep you interested! :)
DeleteCongrats on the TBR, sounds like really good progress :) I haven't done a readathon last month, and I can really feel the lack of results because of that :D
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you for sharing my post!! I'm glad you found it useful :)
Yes! :) Lol. I felt the lack of results earlier in the year when I wasn't having luck getting much reading done. Yes!!! No problem! I love your TBR spreadsheet. I'm using it to keep better track of everything I read month to month! :D
DeleteWow! Your June TBR is so crazy! It's a great line-up, but I don't think I could ever get through that many books, at least not now. When I was younger maybe... I hope you enjoy all of them! I still need to read Sabaa Tahir's books, but I'm hoping to get to them sometime in the next year before the fourth book releases.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Shell's Stories!
Haha! I've been ambitious and since I read 12 in May, I'm hoping to get 12 in June done as well! At least so I can get caught up on my Goodreads goal. Lol. I've just been reading books at a fast pace the past month or so. Thanks! Yes, you definitely need to read the Ember books! I was a bit worried because of their hype but it is so well deserved!
DeleteNo problem! :)
Wow! Lots of great books you read this month! Hope you have a great June!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my May Monthly Wrap Up!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
