Nara Collins is an average sixteen-year-old, with one exception: every night she dreams the events of the following day. Due to an incident in her past, Nara avoids using her special gift to change fate…until she dreams a future she can’t ignore.
After Nara prevents a bombing at Blue Ridge High, her ability to see the future starts to fade, while people at school are suddenly being injured at an unusually high rate.
Grappling with her diminishing powers and the need to prevent another disaster, Nara meets Ethan Harris, a mysterious loner who seems to understand her better than anyone. Ethan and Nara forge an irresistible connection, but as their relationship heats up, so do her questions about his dark past.
Review: I really enjoyed this book! It was definitely a different, unique take on seeing the future and fate! I read it all in one afternoon! It is definitely a book you will read in one sitting (ya, its that good!) I really loved the mystery behind Nara losing her dreams for a while and not knowing why! I also loved the whole mystery behind Ethan and how he knew her so well when she had barely even talked to him before!
Nara. I really like this girl! She deals with dreams outlining the events of her next day (which gets kinda boring after a while since you always know whats going to happen). Until the day she interferes with fate to prevent a bombing at her school. Then all of a sudden after that day she starts losing her dreams and she doesn't know why! I totally felt her loss! She had these dreams every night for years and then all of a sudden they're gone? Where did they go? And how does she get them back? And how does this new guy Ethan fit into the picture and know so much about me all of a sudden?
Ethan. New guy at school. Not much of a people person. Until he starts seeing this girl Nara's dreams. Why am I able to see her dreams when they have nothing to do with darkness? Why are her dreams full of light able to get through all the darkness I absorb? How do I tell her I have her dreams without freaking her out?
I really loved the two of them getting to know each other. They understood each other, and helped each other in so many ways! They are fantastic for each other! I enjoyed seeing the two of them figure out the mystery behind why bad things were suddenly happening to people around the school and trying to help each other figure out their powers and whatnot. These two were really smart. They didn't just play dumb to everything. They might not have understood things at certain times, but they took everything seriously and when it came time to put the puzzle together all the pieces just clicked into place and revealed the problem. Now fixing the problem became a whole other issue. You see. Fate is a massive jerk. He would rather try and get rid of Nara than just let her help certain people. I loved Ethan so much! He worked so hard to protect Nara, no matter what the circumstances! And when he couldn't protect her from it, he stood by her side to help her confront it. And when she just needed someone to talk to he was there for that as well. He is seriously a fantastic guy and perfect for Nara! And his plan at the end to help Nara be able to confront Fate... Genius! I totally wouldn't have put all those pieces together and thought to do that, but Ethan is a genius and his plan worked!
I cant wait to buy myself a copy of Lucid! Because after reading BKoD I definitely need more of this series!
4 1/2 Stars!
