Waiting On Wednesday [#68]

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

The Impossibility of Tomorrow (Incarnation #2)
Author: Avery Williams
Expected Publication: June 4, 2013

The immortal Seraphina is forced to face the darkness of her past—and risk losing the love of her life—in this second novel in the Incarnation series.

Seraphina has been living for centuries, thanks to a special method of alchemy, but only recently has she really felt alive. She’s finally broken free from her controlling boyfriend, Cyrus, and after years of swapping bodies to preserve her immortality, is happily settled into a life worth sticking with. Because in this life, she has Noah.

But Noah might not be as trustworthy as he seems. After he delivers an ominous message that could only come from Cyrus, Sera is worried that her new friends and family will find out her secret. And as her suspicions extend beyond Noah, Sera is forced to wonder about her new friends as well: Could her old coven be disguising themselves right under her nose?

Will Sera have to move to another body—and take another life—or can she find a way to keep what she’s got, forever?

The Alchemy of Forever was such a good book! I didnt expect to like it as much as I did but I loved it! And it has me very excited for its sequel!!! And I really like the cover for this one! I love the blue and pink/purple. And to anyone who hasnt read The Alchemy of Forever, I highly suggest you do! :)

What are you waiting on this week?

Review: The Alchemy of Forever by Avery Williams

The Alchemy of Forever (Incarnation #1)
Author: Avery Williams
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Publication Date: January 3, 2012
Pages: 256
Source: Hardcover/Library

Seraphina's first love made her immortal...her second might get her killed.Incarnation is a new series that introduces a fresh mythology perfect for fans of bestselling series like The Immortals by Alyson Noel and Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

After spending six hundred years on earth, Seraphina Ames has seen it all. Eternal life provides her with the world's riches, but at a very high price: innocent lives. Centuries ago, her boyfriend, Cyrus, discovered a method of alchemy that allows them to swap bodies with other humans, jumping from one vessel to the next, taking the human's life in the process. No longer able to bear the guilt of what she's done, Sera escapes from Cyrus and vows to never kill again.

Then sixteen-year-old Kailey Morgan gets into a horrific car accident right in front of her, and Sera accidentally takes over her body. For the first time, Sera finds herself enjoying the life of the person she's inhabiting--and falls for the human boy who lives next door. But Cyrus will stop at nothing until she's his again, and every moment she stays, she's putting herself and the people she's grown to care for in great danger. Will Sera have to give up the one thing that's eluded her for centuries: true love?

Review: I really enjoyed this book! I honestly didn't know what to expect with this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. The reincarnation aspect of the book was very well done. I liked how the reincarnation was explain so we understood how it worked. I also thought the story was very well told. Avery Williams writing kept me interested in the book and made me want to keep reading even when I needed to sleep. Lol. I'm serious. I had to force myself to put the book down at 1:30 in the morning because I knew I had to be up early. Lol.

First of all, I felt bad for Sera. She thought of herself as a murderer because she took other peoples bodies. I'd hate feeling like that. I also felt bad for how she felt like she had to kill herself to get rid of Cyrus. I mean cant a guy take a hint! She doesn't want to deal with you anymore. Especially after dealing with every thing you put her through for centuries! You cant force someone to stay with you. I mean the whole book when Sera was trying to hard to avoid Cyrus finding her after taking Kailey's body I was rooting for her to win. I didn't want Cyrus to find her. From the little bit of what we got to see of him in the beginning I really don't like him. I also really hated how he suddenly showed up trying to find her after she finally gets together with Noah. I mean Sera was finally happy in Kailey's body and he has to show up and put her on edge again. I mean honestly, I don't care if there's very few Incarnates in your world. If someone is that sick of you where they want to kill themselves to get away from you then maybe you should let them go. End of story. I'll definitely be picking up Avery Williams future books.
