The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.
Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.
As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.
In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.
Review: So overall I thought this was a great ending to the trilogy... Except for one thing... But I'll get to that later. So we finally get to find out what Angela's purpose it in this book! That was so exciting! And I totally did not expect her purpose to be what it actually was (I'll spoil that later!) Lol! The war with the Black Wings comes to a head in this final book. And with it came a whole lotta surprises! So lets start off with the Black Wings and what they want. They want to be able to to control all the Triplare. And if they cant have that, they at least want the majority. The thing is, there is usually only 7 Triplare at most on the Earth at any given time. And 3 are already in the Black Wings control. And Clara, Christian and Jeffrey are the other three that aren't. So that left the question... Who is the 7th Triplare???? This... This question... Man. The answer seriously blew my mind. And the answer leads to Angela and her purpose. So as we all know, she and Clara were in Italy during the summer. Well. Angela was kinda seeing one of the Fallen, a guy named Phen. And it turns out, there relationship was more than just kinda seeing each other on and off. They well, you know. And guess what now!!! Angela got pregnant. And the 7th Triplare is her baby! I so did not see that coming. And her purpose was to tell Phen. That's what all her visions were about. I was just so caught off guard by this that it took some getting used to. So ya, the Black Wings wanted Angela's baby since it is the 7th. So the story took a turn into protecting Angela's baby at all costs after it was born from the Black Wings. Definitely not the storyline I expected, but it actually made it better. I was constantly wondering if Angela and Clara and Christian were gonna be able to protect him and what challenges they were gonna face doing it. And I wasn't disappointing. Angela ended up being taken to hell, leaving Clara and Christian to care for Web (the baby) until they went in after her.
So... The boys... We all know I'm team Christian. So I was really happy with all the Clara/Christian moments throughout the book. They really grew closer and developed a real bond. I really wanted them to be together... But you know... I never seem to win any of these battles. The girl always seems to pick the guy I don't want her to be with... Sigh... I was so disappointed that Clara couldn't get over Tucker, especially with how close her and Christian got, and with the fact that you know they did hold some type of feelings for each other. But no matter what, she couldn't get over him (not that not getting over someone you're truly in love with is a bad thing...) But hey, the issues in her love life weren't the only boy issues she had. She also had her brother, who as we know from the last book just kinda took off. He ends up showing up, but like every time Clara sees him, he's just being a complete jerk. He was trying so hard to get away from his destiny as an Angel-Blood. And Clara tried to get through to him, but he just wouldn't hear it. But hey, when Clara goes to hell to save Angela, and finds him there too, then after being stubborn he finally lets her help him... Lets just say I'm not the biggest fan of Jeffrey in this book.
And on top of all that... We find out some major family lineage in this book! So we find out that Christian and Angela are actually brother and sister. WHAT?!?! Totally didn't see that one coming. And on top of that, we find out which parent they share. And this ones even more of a shocker. Their dad. Which we come to find out, is none other than the leader of the Black Wings himself, Asael! Just... Wow...
So I thought the ending was pretty epic. I mean a showdown with Asael (read it to find out what happened there), Tucker pretty much being killed by Lucy dropping him in a lake and Clara using all her glory to try and save him. It was definitely not the ending I was expecting, but it was still pretty good, even though she saves Tucker and they live happily ever after. :(
Though there's one thing I still don't get or understand. What was Jeffrey's purpose, other than starting a fire. Why would he have just that as his purpose??? I still don't get that.
