Her heart torn in two, past bubbling to the surface, life threatened by an obsessive killer—Juliet will be lucky to escape alive.

The Unbound (The Archived #2)
Author: Victoria Schwab

Last summer, Mackenzie Bishop, a Keeper tasked with stopping violent Histories from escaping the Archive, almost lost her life to one. Now, as she starts her junior year at Hyde School, she's struggling to get her life back. But moving on isn't easy -- not when her dreams are haunted by what happened. She knows the past is past, knows it cannot hurt her, but it feels so real, and when her nightmares begin to creep into her waking hours, she starts to wonder if she's really safe.

Meanwhile, people are vanishing without a trace, and the only thing they seem to have in common is Mackenzie. She's sure the Archive knows more than they are letting on, but before she can prove it, she becomes the prime suspect. And unless Mac can track down the real culprit, she'll lose everything, not only her role as Keeper, but her memories, and even her life. Can Mackenzie untangle the mystery before she herself unravels?

With stunning prose and a captivating mixture of action, romance, and horror, The Unbound delves into a richly imagined world where no choice is easy and love and loss feel like two sides of the same coin.

Waiting On Wednesday [#102]

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

Better Off Friends
Author: Elizabeth Eulberg
Expected Publication: February 25, 2014

For Macallan and Levi, it was friends at first sight. Everyone says guys and girls can’t be just friends, but these two are. They hang out after school, share tons of inside jokes, their families are super close, and Levi even starts dating one of Macallan’s friends. They are platonic and happy that way.

Eventually they realize they’re best friends — which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep getting in each other’s way. Guys won’t ask Macallan out because they think she’s with Levi, and Levi spends too much time joking around with Macallan, and maybe not enough time with his date. They can’t help but wonder . . . are they more than friends or are they better off without making it even more complicated?

From romantic comedy superstar Elizabeth Eulberg comes a fresh, fun examination of a question for the ages: Can guys and girls ever really be just friends? Or are they always one fight away from not speaking again — and one kiss away from true love?

I am so excited for this book! I have read all but one of Elizabeth's books and I have loved every one!!!! I definitely think I'll love this one too!

Review: Sweet Legacy by Tera Lynn Childs

Sweet Legacy (Medusa Girls #3)
Author: Tera Lynn Childs
Publisher: Katherine Tegen
Publication Date: September 3, 2013
Pages: 384
Source: Hardcover/Library

The stunning conclusion of Tera Lynn Childs's Greek mythology–based Sweet Venom trilogy is perfect for teen fans of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series.

The girls cannot hesitate as they seek the location of the lost door between the realms, even as monsters and the gods of Olympus descend on San Francisco in battle-ready droves.

Greer must use her second sight to step up and prevent anything from stopping her sisters' mission, even though a god is playing with her mind. Grace wants to trust her adopted brother, Thane; but will his secret put the girls in even more danger? And Gretchen has trained her sisters to stop the monsters, but her role as a huntress comes with more responsibility than she ever imagined. What will the girls' immortal legacy be? Three teenage descendants of Medusa must unite to restore balance to the world in this action-packed series with plenty of romance.

Review: I really enjoyed this book! Though I must say I'm very sad to see this series end! Overall I found this to be a very satisfying ending to the series! It tied up the main story line nicely while also leaving a few small things to keep you wondering while not being angry about not knowing (you know what I'm talking about).

So we start with the girls having just entered the abyss in search of Euryale & Stheno on Olympus. They run into trouble the moment they jump into the abyss though. They have to fight a load of monsters which seemed to waiting for them the moment they get there. As they work their way further through the abyss the monsters seem to be right on their tail every step of the way. They cant figure out how the monsters seem to be so aware of them for quite awhile. Eventually they find out that Greer is the cause of it thanks to her touching the pendant in previous books. Gretchen and Greer (and company) finally do find and free Euryale and Stheno but not after numerous battles thanks to Greer being a beacon after having touched the pendant.

Grace on the other hand is sent on a mission shortly after going to the abyss with her sisters to go back to San Fran and search for their biological mother who is also in danger. She ends up going back with Nick but he ends up saving her from the bad guys by getting captured so she could get away. After questioning Nick about what side he was on for the past two books it was nice to see him finally sticking to the sisters side. It takes her a while, but with the help of her friend Milo they do end up finding her and after a short time Cassandra (biological mom) does agree to see Grace and listen to her warning.

After Grace, Gretchen and Greer found the people which they were sent to find they all meet back up while simultaneously trying to avoid those trying to kill them with Greer being a beacon to them. Greer had a vision about one of the sisters being in danger and goes to stop it and ends up hurt herself. Due to that the sisters finally find out the secret Thane was hiding and it was a pretty big secret. He was actually sent by one of the gods on a mission dealing with Grace. He then leaves thinking they turned against him after finding out. After this the girls set out to find him and save Nick and then gather their troops for their opening of the door. I actually found the opening kinda uneventful compared to everything else. Once they got there it just happened and then the monsters came out. I thought there was going to be more drama with the door actually opening. After the battle with a few random surprises in it the sisters are then told that Euryale and Stheno are leaving for Olympus and leaving the girls to control everything in that world. And also that they pass on their immortality to two of the sisters but that they leave it up the girls to decide who gets the immortality. We get a hint of what might happen based on Gretchen's reaction but we never to find out which sisters do get it. Overall though I thought the ending of the book was great!

5 Stars!

Review: Life Before Legend by Marie Lu

Life Before Legend (Legend #0.5)
Author: Marie Lu
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile
Publication Date: January 15, 2013
Pages: 41
Source: Paperback

Find out more about June and Day in this never-before-seen glimpse into their daily lives before they met in Marie Lu’s New York Times bestselling LEGEND series. As twelve-year-olds struggling to survive in two very different worlds within the Republic’s stronghold, June was starting her first day of school at Drake University as the youngest cadet ever admitted, and Day was fighting for food on the streets of the Lake sector. LIFE BEFORE LEGEND contains two original stories written by Marie Lu that give readers a sneak peek into the lives of their favorite characters in a thrilling new context.

Review: I really enjoyed the short stories about Day and June. We see how Day got his first kiss which was definitely an interesting story. We also see how he gets into messing with the Republic. Now the stunt he pulled wasnt as elaborate as we see in the other books but it definitely showed us that even at a young age he wasnt afraid to take on the Republic. We also get to see how June is at a younger age. And how she had a massive attitude problem which was getting her into trouble back then. We see her on her first day at Drake University and how she got into a fight on her first day. I liked this book a lot because we got to see June and Day at a younger age but also still showing that they were like they currently are at a younger age.

The Geography of You and Me
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Publication Date: April 15, 2014

Lucy and Owen meet somewhere between the tenth and eleventh floors of a New York City apartment building, on an elevator rendered useless by a citywide blackout. After they're rescued, they spend a single night together, wandering the darkened streets and marveling at the rare appearance of stars above Manhattan. But once the power is restored, so is reality. Lucy soon moves to Edinburgh with her parents, while Owen heads out west with his father.

Lucy and Owen's relationship plays out across the globe as they stay in touch through postcards, occasional e-mails, and -- finally -- a reunion in the city where they first met.

A carefully charted map of a long-distance relationship, Jennifer E. Smith's new novel shows that the center of the world isn't necessarily a place. It can be a person, too.
